We came to know Applied Vacuum Engineering (AVE) through a study conducted by a Spanish research group on the Pilot Production of Biopharmaceuticals in Plants. We were very interested in the vacuum infiltration chamber solution reported in this study and approached the company for guidance on potential solutions they could offer for our own cGMP facility in South Africa using the Plant Expression Platform. AVE offered us a bespoke solution which is an upgrade of the current systems on the market. They were amenable to our payment terms and delivered the machine as requested. We envisage the machine to be able to infiltrate 5 to 10 plants per vacuum infiltration run, which is a key unit operation in our process. The company communicated well with us, and we look forward to working with them on optimizing our process.
